26th Annual African American Downtown Festival
The event was created to pay homage to the various black businesses and families that resided in the Downtown Kerrytown area in the 1950’s and1960’s. Today there are no black families or businesses that remain. The community is invited to celebrate the history of these families and the contributions of these business owners.

Pat-A-Cake Group for Children with Developmental Disabilities
The Pat-A-Cake Playgroup provides parents a place to chat while their children with developmental disabilities and their siblings are participating in structured play.

At this event, take over a corner of the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology and read a book about the ancient world together. Then participants will have the opportunity to find related artifacts and art on display.

Free Community Park Day: The Howell Nature Center
The Howell Nature Center invites guests to enjoy the Wildlife & Discovery Park, Raptor Center, Ambassador Trail, and Alexandria’s NatureScape at no cost for the entire day. Registration is required.

Ann Arbor Comic Arts Festival (A2CAF)
The Ann Arbor Comic Arts Festival is a two day celebration of a lifelong love of comics with workshops, art activities, and one-on-one encounters between comics readers and comics makers. Both days of A2CAF go from 11 a.m.- 6 p.m.
A2SF Kidzone: Events throughout the month
The Ann Arbor Summer Fair (A2SF) will host a Kidzone each night. From swim safety, to storytimes, and more, here’s a full rundown of each Kidzone.

Goldfish Swim School – Fish for Bubbles
At this event, kids can try their luck at fishing for bubbles in a kiddie pool, win fun prizes, and add their artistic genius to their Goldfish Mural.
June 10
The City of Ann Arbor’s A2ZERO Week celebrates all things sustainable and innovative. Join them at A2SF’s Kidzone to learn new ways you can help keep the planet healthy. The fun will include games, interactive creativity stations, and exhibits from the University of Michigan Natural History Museum.

Child Life Specialists from C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital will help with guests with art projects using medical supplies such as Band-aids and gauze, among other surprise family-friendly activities.
June 13
At the start of each hour, from 5-7 p.m, kids are welcome to gather and enjoy a story together. This will be followed by a kid-led author Q&A. This is a chance for the youngest readers to ask authors about their work and their very cool job. They’ll also do a fun zine craft together.
June 14
Zero-Waste Zone – U-M Campus of Sustainability
Join University of Michigan’s Office of Campus Sustainability for fun activities such as coloring sheets (printed on recycled paper) and other activities. Sustainable stories will also be read at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Ann Arbor District Library’s storytellers will hold three sessions of fun songs, stories, puppets and movement at storytime.
June 16
Juneteenth Cakewalk – U-M Juneteenth Planning Committee
Attendees of this event will learn about the origins of the now very popular cake walk. After learning the history, participants will partake in a modern cake walk. Winners will receive large prepackaged candy bars or other candy treats in lieu of providing cake.
June 17
Kids are invited to join Jadein Black in sharing stories, songs and joy on the hour at 5:30 p.m, 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Stop by for this special evening of Drag Queen Storytelling!

Celebrate the diverse and exciting world of STEM with the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum and Leslie Science and Nature Center. Kids will have the opportunity to do hands-on activities, investigate and ask questions about their favorite parts of science and nature.

Riverside Arts Center – Exploring Our World & Beyond
Bring your little ones and make bubble wands which produce the best bubbles for floating through the air. Children will also be able to create cosmic drawings of the fascinating worlds above us.

Join the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra’s Learning and Community team at their Instrument Petting Zoo. Learn about how professional musicians play their instruments and even get to hold and play one yourself!
June 22
Learn about Clonlara’s global community and personalized learning approach through a notebook-making activity that asks, “What do YOU want to learn?” With a colorful selection of paper in different sizes and textures, young audiences will enjoy assembling their own notebooks to record their stories, thoughts and interests over the summer.
