Healing Hearts Family 5K Walk/Run Will Benefit Ele’s Place Ann Arbor

Lace up your running shoes. It is time for the third annual Healing Hearts Family 5K Walk/Run to benefit Ele’s Place Ann Arbor.

The walk/run will take place on the morning of Saturday, June 24 at the Thomson Reuters Ann Arbor campus at 6300 Interfirst Drive.

The event hopes to raise funds for Ele’s Place, which offers support for children, teens and families who have experienced the death of a loved one. By providing free peer grief programs, they are able to help families struggling with loss.

“Former and current Ele’s Place Ann Arbor families, plus the entire community, are invited to participate in this family-friendly event to honor, celebrate and remember someone who has died,” said Kris Maly, Communications Manager.

Participants this year will enjoy snacks, water, chalk art and music provided by DJ Nicole Myint.

Several registration options are available. Kids ages 3-6 can register for “Kid Dash”, and ages 7-12 can register for “Kids Mile” at no charge. A virtual 5K walk/run is also available.

“In 2022, Ele’s Place Ann Arbor welcomed over 250 people-walkers, runners, sideline cheerers and volunteers, along with strollers and wagons,” said Maly.

“This year, we hope to have over 300 participants,” she said.

Ele’s Place Ann Arbor was established in 2007. They currently offer weekly peer support groups free of charge throughout the school year, with special family activity nights planned for the summer months. Trained volunteers help facilitate the groups, along with licensed mental health clinicians who offer help to parents in adult groups.

Online registration for the 5K Walk/Run is available here.
